When Susan, Frances, and their mother, Lee Gravely,
took their first trip to Italy in 1983, they fell in love with
the Italian culture. During their stay at the Il San Pietro
Hotel in Positano, they went to lunch and found
themselves captivated by the hotel’s colorful,
handcrafted dinnerware. The next day they arranged
to meet the artisans at a nearby factory in the town
of Vietri sul Mare. As they watched the artisans paint,
glaze, and fire each piece by hand, they were inspired
to share the treasure they had discovered.
Throughout the years, VIETRI’s focus has been to celebrate the simple act of sharing a meal with family and friends. Inspired by the Italian lifestyle, VIETRI encourages savoring one another’s company, and keeping sacred the time spent around the table.
The holidays are such a special time of year to bring family and friends together. I wanted to choose a collection that is classic, timeless and beautiful that I can someday pass down to Charleston for her table.
I chose the Rufolo Collection because I adored the sparkling gold glass and the scallops are so beautiful! Each piece is handcrafted and made in Italy. It is sure to bring some sparkle to my Holiday table and events!
In addition to the Rufolo plates, I also added the Rufolo Glass Gold Antique Votive, Hibiscus Glass White Small Fluted Vase, and Italian Bakers White Small Rectangular Baker.
I grabbed some beautiful white hydrangeas from Trader Joe’s, set out my beautiful VIETRI pieces and my table was set for family and friends!
There are so many ways you can style this collection, so stay tuned as I show next how to create a traditional Christmas table setting with my VIETRI dishes and serving pieces.
